He was fed by people who already knew him and even built a small house next to his big love's grave. Laika, the story of Laika begins during the Cold War when a group of scientists from the Soviet Union decided to create their second satellite, the Sputnik 2, with the aim of orbiting a living being in space, bringing it back, and evaluating the results to subsequently send a human. For this experiment, they decided to use stray dogs because they thought they could be more resistant to the tests. Hachiko, how could we not mention this loyal dog and the great bond he formed with his owner? The majority will remember him from the film Hachi: A Dog's Tale, yes, the one that made you sob a few times, which, believe it or not, is based on a true story. This incredible story begins when Hidesaburo Ueno, a professor at Tokyo University, decides to get a pet so he doesn't feel so alone, which is why he started looking for a brave and intelligent Akita puppy. Ironically, at that time, this breed of dog was scarce in his region, but finally, he found the one that would be his lifelong companion and named him Hachiko. Over the years, they would become inseparable friends. Each time the teacher went to work at the University, Hachiko would accompany him to the Shibuya train station and await his return to accompany him back home. Unfortunately, on May 21st, 1925, Professor Ueno died, so he could not return to meet his pets. From that day on, Hachiko never stopped waiting for his owner and friend at the train station. After almost 10 years, all the people who passed the Shibuya train station knew Hachiko and considered it a symbol of friendship and loyalty. That is why in 1935, when this faithful friend died at the train station, they decided to bury him next to his owner. Hachiko became so famous that they made two statues as a tribute, one at the Shibuya station and the other at the Odate train station.

Balto, this amazing dog is considered a hero because thanks to him, thousands of lives were saved. Balto was a Siberian Husky who lived in a small Alaskan town called Nome and was used to pull sledges. In 1925, the town of Nome was attacked by a disease called diphtheria that affected mainly the children. Unfortunately, they did not have the diphtheria vaccine, and the truth is that this would not have been a problem, but the town's temperature was minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit at the time, which made it impossible for them to send vaccines in time. This is why a group of almost 20 people decided to go with more than 100 sled dogs, including Balto, to the nearest town to pick up the medicine using a relay system. Due to the difficult route that they would have to do, after five days, a group of dogs arrived at the town of Nome, led by Balto, with medicine. The fun fact of all this is that Balto was not the leader of that group and, due to adverse situations, decided to take the position of guide and thus could get to town in time, becoming a hero. Balto became so famous that because of this, they made a statue of his honor in Central Park and made an animated film that bears his name based on his incredible story.
